We have all had or seen cold sores in our life. Generally they are little fluid filled blisters occurring around the mouth and on your lips, and occasionally around your nose.

The cold sores in your nose are especially nasty though. Because the nose itself has a continuous airflow flowing in and out of the nostrils, conditions are tougher there for the skin. Additionally, the nostrils are moist in winter, due to nasal drip, colds and such like.

This provides the ideal environment for the herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores. Conditions are idea for its propagation, its moist and warm, perfect for multiplication. Add to that the possibility of rubbing with tissues or hankies, and the skin is at its weakest there as well.

When the virus strikes, it strikes there with a vengeance. The formation of the little cold sore blisters, happens in the most awkward place conceivable. The skin around your nostril flares is very sensitive as well, making cold sores there especially unpleasant.

Should the blisters break and release their fluid, this will quickly infect the surrounding areas and spread the cold sores.

So it makes sense to attack a nose cold sore as quickly and effectively as possible. Left to its own devices, half your face could become a huge painful cold sore. Big red painful blotches could result, which may take weeks to heal, and even longer to totally disappear.

Although cold sores on any part of the face are unpleasant, the ones that form on the nostrils are probably the worst. So as soon as you suspect the possibility of a cold sore outbreak in that region, you should do whatever possible to stop it and control it.

Do some research, recognize the symptoms, and find out what options you have. You can always take a painkiller to relieve your suffering in the interim, but some proactive activity will stand you in good stead for your total well being.

There are numerous sources of information available on the Internet. Educate yourself on the preventative measures, as well as what cures you have available in the event of cold sores in your nose, and always be prepared.
