Cold Sore Relief Made Simple
As most people at some stage of their life will suffer from cold sores, a way to
provide simple cold sore relief would be useful.
Usually occurring in winter , times of stress or when the body is run down, cold
sore are a viral infection breaking out. The red blotches and liquid filled fever
blisters occurring around our mouth, on our lips or our nose, are unsightly and
painful.
The best would be to prevent the breakout in the first place, but once the sores
are there, lets look at the best way to cope with them.
If they are causing severe discomfort and pain, the old standby painkillers will
work here too. Making sure you are not allergic to any particular ingredient, using
aspirin, ibuprofen and the like, will of course reduce the discomfort.
But are there other ways?
The virus has created its home in a warm moist mucous area.
So reducing the liquid content of the blisters would probably reduce some
discomfort. We can do this by using some form of drying agent, of which there are
many available. Over the counter acne treatments often have an ingredient with a
drying ability, speak to your pharmacist about this.
Alternativley, you could use some of grandmas old remedies, such as an application
of surgical spirits or nail varnish remover. The solution evaporating, will dry out
the affected skin as well.
Cooling down the affected area of cold sores, would probably also help reduce
the throbbing. Applying and sliding an ice cube over the area will desensitize the
skin and the cold will help with the healing at the same time.
Applying a soothing cream containing tea tree oil and camomile will always
provide some relief. Applying some probiotic yogurt and massaging it into the skin
has been known to releave the burning and scratchy sensations as well. A menthol
toothpatse containing pepermint or menthol, also seems to soothe away some
discomfort.
So these methods used on their own, or in conjunction with each othe, will be
cold sore relief made simple.
Trying to live a well nourished balanced lifestyle, will of course go a long way
to preventing attacks in the first place.
